Some time ago, the SNDs (Namur and Coesfeld) decided to begin an internet initiative to further our anti-trafficking efforts. As a consequence of the growing awareness of this form of violence, several Sisters share what they are learning about efforts in their countries. From Germany we learned of special efforts there of ECPAT (End Child Prostitution, Pornography and Trafficking). They also are partners with us here at the UN. Sister shares: “Germany, Switzerland and Austria together started on 27  September, World Tourism Day, a campaign against abuse of children in holiday destinations. The ministries of these three countries, the tourist-resort industry, and NGOs worked together and made a 45-sec-filmspot ‘Witness’ to sensitize the population for efforts to help endangered children. The spot calls for attention for the situation of children with the sentence “Don’t overlook the signs!” All three countries activate a simple mail or e-mail-address for the tourists to report what they observe in their holiday destination. Furthermore they will train the employees of the travel centers to see and respond.”
