‘TO WHOM IT MAY CONCERN’: IT CONCERNS US ALL

In our January issue we requested your participation in a survey about the trafficking of women and girls. In particular, we wanted your input on stories of trafficking, best practices to eliminate trafficking, and strengths/weaknesses in government policy. In just one month we received 36 responses from 18 countries from various religious communities including Franciscans, Good Shepherd Sisters, Loretto Sisters, SND Coesfeld, and SND Namur. Thank you to the following Sisters of Notre Dame de Namur for their response to our request for information re trafficking: Marie-Josephine Ibanda, Isabelle Izika, Loretta Jordan, and Lucie Kima.

All the responses will be used as the basis of a short film to further raise awareness of the epidemic of trafficking. The film entitled To Whom It May Concern is being produced with the non-profit Artfully Unforgotten which uses art to advocate on behalf of vulnerable communities. The video will be shown at the UN on March 8 and made available online with the hope that religious leaders will share it with their parishes and communities as a way to raise further awareness about the trafficking of women and girls.
