terredeshommesOn the surface, automobile manufacturer Volkswagen and Terre des Hommes International Federation (www.terredeshommes.org/) would seem to be unlikely allies, but they are alike in one important way. Volkswagen has a long-standing commitment to social and sustainable responsibility, and Terre des Hommes is a network of ten national organizations promoting equitable development without discrimination. They are partnering in a significant way to benefit the children of Brazil.

To mark the 2014 World Cup in Brazil, Terres des Hommes and Volkswagen are organizing 14 projects to fight child poverty in Brazil. More than 60,000 children in poor districts will benefit from their “Chance to Play” initiative. This cooperative effort to alleviate poverty highlights two Millennium Development Goals: MDG 1 to eradicate poverty, and MDG 8 to support global partnerships for development.
