We the Peoples of the United Nations, determined
to save succeeding generations from the scourge of war …
and to practice tolerance and live together in peace
with one another as good neighbours …
have resolved to combine our efforts to accomplish these aims.
UN Charter, 1945

Good news: 67 countries signed the Arms Trade Treaty at the UN on June 3, 2013, the first day the treaty was open for signing. Now the hard work — getting it ratified in national legislatures. Not until 50 countries actually ratify the treaty will it take effect. Put pressure on your country to sign and ratify and thus make a stand for peace in our world.

We need to decide that we will not go to war
whatever reason is conjured up by the politicians or the media,
because war in our time is always indiscriminate,
a war against innocents, a war against children.
War is terrorism, magnified a hundred times.
Howard Zinn
